Already ten years after its foundation, in 1920, SELTMANN WEIDEN started producing china, especially designed to serve the very special needs of the catering industry. For more than 80 years already, SELTMANN WEIDEN is an expert in this business. SELTMANN HOTEL CHINA is wellknown in four and five star hotels all over the world and its quality and elegance is well respected by the most famous hotels and restaurants.
In 1939 and 1940 two more factories, located in the towns of Erbendorf and Krummennaab nearby Weiden, were added to the group. These two factories and the main factory in Weiden still wear the name of their founder, CHRISTIAN SELTMANN.
The year 1957 brought another company to the SELTMANN WEIDEN group. The KOENIGLICH PRIVILEGIERTE PORZELLANFABRIK TETTAU, in foreign countries better known under the export name ROYAL TETTAU, became a new member of the SELTMANN WEIDEN group. ROYAL TETTAU offers the highest quality of an extremely white, thin and translucent porcelain. Yet, the hard body and glaze still make it strong and highly chip-resistant. ROYAL TETTAU offers outstanding and high elegant shapes for private households as well as for high end restaurants. A large variety of giftarticles complete the assortment of this factory.
Shortly after the reunification of Germany beginnig of the 90s, the SELTMANN WEIDEN group bought four manufactories in the formar East Germany. All four manufactories offer a wide range of 100% handmade and handpainted giftarticles such as figurines, figurinegroups, porcelain-tables, candelabres, lamps, lithophanieplates and many others. The outraging quality of their products is absolutely comparable with the quality of MEISSEN.
Throughout the years, the products of the SELTMANN WEIDEN group were distributed on the North American market by different importers. In 1999, the SELTMANN WEIDEN group decided to found its own USA-based subsidiary, SELTMANN USA, which is located in Lake Bluff close to Chicago.
Since then, SELTMANN USA guarantees, that not only the quality products of the SELTMANN WEIDEN group are brought to the US-market. SELTMANN USA also makes sure, that our US-customers are enjoying the same uncomparable perfect service as all our European business-friends appreciate for many many years already.
Still the SELTMANN WEIDEN group is privately owned by the family SELTMANN, now in the third generation already.
